Plan your visit

Ahead of your visit

Same-day dental emergency

One appointment, explained before it starts.

Turning up mid-crisis is stressful enough without needing to explain everything perfectly. Tell your dentist what happened and how you're feeling, in whatever words come out, and they'll take it from there. The visit starts with listening, then a gentle examination, before any decisions get made. Settling your pain and stabilising your tooth happen first. Anything beyond that gets explained once you're steady enough to take it in.

Why this matters

What this treatment aims to improve

Results depend on the starting condition, the treatment plan and how the mouth responds. Your dentist will explain what is realistic for your case before treatment begins.

You're heard before you're examined

Your dentist listens to what happened and how you're feeling before starting the examination, so nothing feels rushed the second you walk in.

You set the pace

If a step feels like too much, say so and the appointment slows down. Adjusting the pace doesn't take anything away from the examination and treatment already planned for the visit.

A calm explanation, once you're ready

Once the pain's under control, your dentist explains what was found and what, if anything, comes next, without rushing you through it.

How it works

Step by step, from assessment to review

1

Tell us what happened

Describe the pain or the injury however it comes out, including roughly when it started, so your dentist has somewhere to begin.

2

A gentle, unhurried look

Your dentist examines the area carefully, pausing if you need a second, and takes an X-ray if it'll help build a clearer picture.

3

Pain settled, tooth stabilised

That's the immediate goal. Anything more involved gets explained afterwards, once you're steady enough to take it in.

Is it suitable for you?

This suits anyone arriving in pain or distress, whether the problem feels small but is worrying you, or is clearly serious. Feeling shaken by a sudden dental problem is normal, and telling the team that when you reach out lets the visit flex around it.

01

You're in pain and struggling to think straight

A sudden problem can be distracting and frightening. Coming in hands that decision to someone else for a while.

02

You're anxious on top of being in pain

That combination is a lot. Tell us, and the team can slow things down and explain each step as it happens.

03

You're not sure how serious it is

Whether it turns out to be minor or more involved, describing it and coming in is a reasonable way to find out.

Getting ready

Small things that help before you arrive.

01

Bring anything relevant

Old X-rays, a list of medications or notes on what you've noticed all help, though you're welcome to come without them.

02

Flag what makes it harder

If anxiety, a sensitive spot or a rough past experience make visits difficult, tell the team early so they can plan around it.

03

Give it enough time

A first look needs room for questions and a proper explanation, not just a quick glance and a nod.
